Majestic Mountains in Africa

Majestic Mountains in Africa

11 July 2017 | by Bradley Searle

Africa is synonymous with natural beauty, from the volcanic depths of the Rift Valley, to the ice-capped summits of the Kilimanjaro. There are mammoth mountains sprawled across the continent that leave both locals and visitors at a loss for words and here are three of our favourite:

Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania
Africa’s highest mountain is also one of the world’s largest volcanoes and the highest free-standing mountain in the world! Its ice capped peak rises through a lush rainforest and towers over the clouds.

Chimanimani Mountains in Zimbabwe
The untouched mountains are a magnificent barrier of jagged crystalline rock between the border of Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The mountains are home to breath taking natural beauty, sparkling waterfalls, natural pools, an Eland sanctuary and over 186 species of birds!

Mount Kenya in Kenya
Mere minutes from the equator lies Mount Kenya. The mountain’s glacial valleys are believed to be the throne of Ngai, the old high God of the Kikuyu. This long-extinct volcano is Africa's second-highest peak!

Africa is the perfect place for both casual day hikes through indigenous forests and more serious expeditions along tough terrains and rocky terraces. If you're looking to soak up the continent's stunning scenery and have an eye for adventure, then there's only one place to be - at the top of one the continent’s majestic mountains.
